Updated October 20, 2026
The most used e-commerce AI tools heading into 2027 are not the newest ones. They are the tools already wired into the store, the inbox and the support queue: Shopify's Sidekick, Klaviyo, Gorgias, Fin, Algolia, Bloomreach, Dynamic Yield, Rebuy, Nosto, Triple Whale, Signifyd and Jasper. This list ranks them by what they do, who they fit, and the one question to ask before you pay.
Key takeaways
Usage follows distribution, not model quality: the tools with the most merchants are the ones bundled into a platform or a channel the merchant already pays for.
Three jobs cover almost everything: sell more (search, recommendations, email), support cheaper (AI agents in the inbox), and operate safer (fraud, analytics, forecasting).
The 2027 shift is agentic channels: Shopify merchants had nearly 34 million Sidekick conversations in Q2 2026, and AI-referred orders to Shopify stores tripled year on year. In-chat checkout, by contrast, stalled.
Pricing moved to per-outcome in support (about $0.90–$1.00 per resolution) while search and personalization stayed on custom quotes; compare like with like.
How we ranked them
"Most used" is measured by reach, not by features. A tool made the list if it meets at least two of three tests: it ships inside a platform most merchants already run (Shopify, Salesforce, Mastercard), it reports a customer base in the tens of thousands or a public usage figure, or it appears in the majority of independent 2026 tool roundups. Figures are as of October 2026 and dated where they come from a company report. Vendors without public numbers are included only where their distribution is not in dispute.
We grouped the twelve by the job they do, because that is how budgets are split: a sell-more tool competes for the marketing budget, a support tool for the service budget, an operate tool for finance or risk.

Sell more: search, recommendations, messaging
1. Shopify Sidekick. Sidekick sits inside the Shopify admin and does what a junior operator would: writes product copy, builds reports, edits theme settings, answers "why did conversion drop on Tuesday". It is the most used tool on this list by a wide margin because it costs nothing extra. In Q2 2026 Shopify reported nearly 34 million Sidekick conversations, daily active merchants up 3.6× year on year, and 36,000 custom apps built with it. The question to ask: what can it change in my store without my approval? Sidekick acts on the admin, so the answer matters.
2. Klaviyo. Email and SMS with the customer data underneath, now sold as a "B2C CRM" with agents on top: Composer for campaign building, Customer Agent for conversations, both with simulation before anything goes live. Klaviyo passed 205,000 customers in June 2026. It is the default for Shopify brands with a list over a few thousand names. The question to ask: which of the agent's actions write to the customer record, and can I see the list?
5. Algolia. Search as an API, with AI ranking and natural-language queries on top. Algolia wins where the catalogue is large and the merchant owns its front end; it loses where the team wants a bundled suite. Pricing is usage-based and climbs with query volume. The question to ask: when the model re-ranks results, where is the rule that says a promoted product stays promoted?
6. Bloomreach. Search, merchandising and marketing in one enterprise suite, used by large retailers who want a single vendor across discovery and email. Custom pricing, long implementations, strong where the merchandising team is big enough to use the controls. The question to ask: how much of the suite do I pay for before the search part is live?
7. Dynamic Yield. On-site personalisation and experimentation, owned by Mastercard since 2022, which gives it a payments-side data story most rivals lack. Used by enterprise and multi-brand groups. The question to ask: what happens to my experiments if the vendor's model changes under them?
8. Rebuy. Upsells, cross-sells and bundles for Shopify Plus, placed in cart, checkout and post-purchase. Rebuy is used less for its model than for its placements; it already knows where Shopify lets a widget live. Priced by order volume. The question to ask: can I pin a rule above the model, so a clearance line never appears in a premium bundle?
9. Nosto. Personalisation for mid-market fashion and lifestyle brands that are too large for an app and too small for Bloomreach. Product recommendations, content personalisation, A/B testing. The question to ask: how is uplift measured, against what holdout, for how long?
12. Jasper. Long-form and ad copy at volume, with brand-voice controls. Jasper is used by teams that write hundreds of product descriptions a month and need them consistent. From $69 per seat per month. The question to ask: does the output cite the product attributes it used, so a wrong spec can be traced to a wrong feed?
Support cheaper: the AI agent in the inbox
3. Gorgias AI Agent. The default helpdesk for Shopify brands, with an AI agent that reads order data and resolves the common tickets: where is my order, change my address, start a return. Priced per automated resolution, roughly $0.90–$1.00 at annual commitment. Gorgias is used because it is already the inbox; adding the agent is a toggle, not a project. The question to ask: what counts as a resolution, and what happens to the ones the customer reopens?
4. Fin. Intercom's agent, now under Salesforce after the acquisition closed in September 2026, priced at $0.99 per outcome with a 50-outcome minimum. Fin is used by mid-market brands that want the agent to act (refunds, account changes) rather than answer. It is the strongest of the support tools on published benchmarks and the most expensive at volume. The question to ask: show me the outcome in my order system, not in the dashboard.
A note on what both tools measure. Resolution and outcome are counted by the vendor, usually when the customer stops writing. That is a reasonable proxy and a poor contract metric. The number to run the business on is completed transactions in your own system per human hour; see the cost guide for how to set it up.
Operate safer: analytics, fraud, forecasting
10. Triple Whale. Attribution, cohort analytics and an AI analyst over Shopify, Meta and Google data. Used by DTC brands whose paid-media spend makes attribution a weekly argument. Free plan, paid tiers by revenue. The question to ask: which attribution model is the AI summary using, and can I switch it?
11. Signifyd. Fraud decisions with a chargeback guarantee: approve the order, and if it is fraud, Signifyd pays. Used by high-ticket and cross-border merchants where a false decline costs more than a chargeback. Per-order pricing. The question to ask: what is my approval rate on the orders the previous tool declined?
What changes in 2027
The tools above will still be the most used in 2027 because switching costs are high. What changes is the channel around them.
AI referrals are real. Shopify reported AI-driven traffic and orders tripling year on year in Q2 2026, with new-buyer orders from AI channels arriving at nearly twice the rate of other channels. Google's Universal Commerce Protocol, launched in January 2026 with Shopify and 20 partners, is live in AI Mode and Gemini. If your product feed is stale, the agent recommends a competitor.
In-chat checkout is not. ChatGPT's Instant Checkout launched with Etsy and promised a million Shopify merchants; independent trackers counted fewer than 30 live Shopify stores by mid-2026, Walmart's in-chat conversion ran at about a third of its site rate, and in March 2026 OpenAI confirmed merchants would run their own checkout. Discovery moved into the assistant. The transaction stayed with the merchant.
Agents will be asked to prove it. Every tool on this list now ships an "agent". The ones that survive procurement in 2027 are the ones that can show, in the merchant's own system, what the agent changed. That is the same test a buyer should apply to a support agent, a personalisation engine or an admin assistant: the record, not the demo.
Where Orbina fits
Orbina does not compete with most of this list. CXOS runs the customer-facing agent that reads and writes in the systems behind these tools: it sits in front of the order management, the returns flow and the product catalogue, on web, app and WhatsApp. Two of its pre-built applications are built for retail: Stylist, which turns a browsing conversation into a cart, and Return Prevention, which offers the exchange before the return is filed. A fashion retailer runs it across 40,000+ live products. Where it differs from the support tools above is the metric: the agent reports completed transactions in the retailer's own system, and every change ships behind a version, a diff and a rollback.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most used AI tool in e-commerce?
By merchant count, Shopify Sidekick, because it is included in every Shopify plan and needs no setup. Shopify reported nearly 34 million Sidekick conversations in Q2 2026. Among paid tools, Klaviyo has the largest disclosed base, with over 205,000 customers as of June 2026.
How much do e-commerce AI tools cost in 2026?
Three models: included in a platform you already pay for (Sidekick), per seat (Jasper from $69, Klaviyo from $45 per month), and per outcome for support agents (Gorgias about $0.90–$1.00 per resolution, Fin $0.99 per outcome). Search, personalisation and fraud tools are mostly custom-quoted.
Which AI tool is best for a Shopify store?
Start with what is already connected: Sidekick for the admin, Klaviyo for email, Gorgias for support. Add a search or personalisation tool only when the catalogue is large enough that default search costs you sales, usually above 10,000 SKUs.
Do I need an AI agent for customer support?
If more than a third of your tickets are order status, returns or address changes, an agent that can read and write to your order system pays for itself. If most tickets need judgement, start with an assistant for your team rather than an agent for your customers.
Is AI shopping in ChatGPT worth preparing for?
Prepare the feed, not the checkout. AI referrals to Shopify stores tripled in a year, but in-chat purchase has stalled and OpenAI moved checkout back to merchants in March 2026. Accurate pricing, inventory and shipping data in your feed is what the assistants read.
How should I compare two AI tools that claim the same result?
Ask each vendor to show the result in a system they do not control: a record in your order management, a line in your CRM, a decision in your fraud log. A tool that can only show its own dashboard is asking you to trust its own scorekeeping.
